Vention Medical Partners with DSM to Provide Single-Source Solution

Integrating coating technology into manufacturing process simplifies supply chain and lowers cost

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, N.J.— January 27, 2016—Vention Medical announced today that it is partnering with DSM, a global leader in biomedical materials, to offer customers the option of integrating the development, testing and application of hydrophilic lubricious coatings into the catheter manufacturing process. This collaboration will strengthen Vention’s position as a single-source solution for catheter-based device design, development, manufacturing and assembly.

Working with Vention from start to finish will eliminate the need for customers to transfer finished devices to another supplier for development and coating application services, streamlining their supply chain and realizing time and cost savings.

Vention has invested in a coating development and applications center at its Minneapolis, MN facility.  Under the agreement, Vention will have full capability to apply, test and validate DSM coatings in-house, eliminating steps from the customer’s supply chain. DSM engineers will work seamlessly with the Vention team to provide expertise in coating catheters from prototyping through commercialization.

DSM’s ComfortCoat® hydrophilic lubricious coatings can help improve medical device performance in a wide range of applications and procedures. All coating application processes can be customized to meet specific device requirements.
