Our leadership team members are proven executives with substantial real-world experience as innovators in the medical device industry. Together, they align our organization around our commitment to the highest standards of quality in everything we do—because patients’ lives depend on us.

Our focus serving the interventional and surgical medical device markets doesn’t end here, our leadership team also actively contributes to the collective good of the company and the communities in which we operate—by leading cross–functional corporate initiatives such as "Sustainability in Vention" and leading volunteer efforts in our communities.

DAN CROTEAU, Chief Executive Officer

Dan leads the development and execution of Vention’s business strategy, shapes the corporate culture, and builds a strong team of motivated people dedicated to providing customers with great technology and service. Before joining Vention in 2011, Dan served as President of FlexMedical, a division of Flextronics. He previously served in a variety of executive roles at medical device companies including Accellent and MedSource Technologies. He also held various roles at GE, worked for 2 early-stage technology companies, and was a consultant with Booz & Company in Sydney, Australia. Dan earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Vermont. He serves on the Board of Directors for Inventus Power, a supplier of innovative power solutions and UFP Technologies (NASDAQ: UFPT) a provider of customer packaging solutions.

NINO GILARDE, Chief Financial Officer

Nino provides financial leadership for the company and is responsible for building fiscal sustainability for effective financial governance. He also oversees information systems and infrastructure. Nino joined Vention in 2014. Previously, he held positions at Tyco Healthcare and Covidien, where he served more than 18 years in several finance roles, most recently as Controller and Vice President of Finance. Nino earned an MBA from Suffolk University and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Boston University. He also completed the High Potential Leadership Program at Harvard University. Outside of work, he and his family are actively involved in the Lupus Foundation of New England.

MARK SAAB, Chief Technical Officer

Mark identifies, prioritizes, and drives the development of new technologies across Vention. He monitors and provides input on strategic initiatives and provides key input on customers, business strategies, and Vention’s web platform. Mark cofounded Advanced Polymers in 1989 and served as President for more than two decades. Recognized as an international expert on medical balloons, balloon catheters, and medical tubing, he holds more than 30 patents. Mark has a bachelor’s degree in plastics engineering and an honorary doctorate from the University of Massachusetts Lowell. He is a well-known community leader whose philanthropic efforts have addressed health, hunger, and education.

TOM TESTA, President, Advanced Technologies


President, Advanced Technologies
“The passion and drive of my team is focused on helping customers solve their technical challenges by bringing leading-edge technologies to market. That’s how we make a difference in patients’ lives.”

Tom leads and manages the Advanced Technologies business, which designs and manufactures complex components and technologies for catheters and other single-use devices. He joined Vention in 2011 as CFO and was promoted to his current position in 2014. He previously served nearly 20 years in several senior operating and financial roles with General Chemical and its parent company, Gentek Inc, most recently as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Tom earned an MBA at New York University’s Stern School of Business and a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology. In his free time he is very involved in the activities of his four children.

BILL FLAHERTY, President, Device Manufacturing Services

Bill heads the Device Manufacturing Services business, leading teams in 6 locations including a low-cost manufacturing campus in Costa Rica. He joined Vention in 2012 after serving as the President of FlexMedical, a division of Flextronics. Before that, he held several executive roles in high-technology industries. He spent more than 15 years at GE in divisions ranging from Industrial to Financial Services. Bill has a bachelor’s degree in business administration with concentrations in marketing and finance from the University of Vermont. He also earned a Master Black Belt Certification from GE and participated in Stanford University’s Executive Management Program. Bill has been active with the General Management Club at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.

BOB MASTON, Senior Vice President, Design & Development

“Our team begins each project with the full product lifecycle in mind. We think about the whole picture so our customers can focus on the clinical and commercial potential of their devices.”

Bob helms the Design & Development team, offering product development services from concept to launch and beyond. With more than 25 years of industry experience, he has led the development of medical devices including implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs), pacemakers, and electrode and lead systems. His catheter experience includes therapeutic, diagnostic, and guide devices for electrophysiology, cardiac drug delivery, valve repair, and implantable leads delivery. Before joining Vention in 2006, Bob was Vice President of Operations and Quality Systems for Circle Medical. He also held a range of senior management positions at BioCardia, Cardiac Pathways, Ventritex, and Pacesetter Systems. Bob is a named inventor on patents related to pacemaker, ICD, and implantable lead design and assembly. He is actively involved in the youth sailing program at Santa Cruz Yacht Club.

STEVEN ROBERTSON, Senior Vice President Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs

A medical device industry veteran of more than 25 years, Steve sets strategic direction for quality and regulatory affairs. He oversees the implementation of the Quality Management System and ensures regulatory compliance across all Vention businesses and facilities. Before joining Vention in 2015, he held a variety of quality roles at companies including Abbott, Ethicon Endo-Surgery, Baxter, Covidien, and St. Jude Medical. Steve earned an MBA from The University of Dallas and a bachelor’s degree in engineering from United States Military Academy at West Point. Steve's volunteer activities have ranged from Habitat to Humanity to the Texas Quality Foundation to church mission outreach projects in needy communities in Florida.

TRISH ALBERT, Vice President, Corporate Counsel

Trish oversees legal affairs as well as corporate governance and business policy. She also heads Vention’s global human resources team. She has been with Vention since 2005, previously serving as Corporate Counsel for Advanced Polymers. Prior to that, she was an attorney with a law firm in Nashua, New Hampshire. Trish earned a bachelor’s degree in History and English from the University of Southern Maine and a JD from Suffolk University Law School. She is President of the Board of Directors for Nashua Children’s Home, a Trustee of the Saab Family Foundation, and has also served as a Little League coach and a Junior Achievement volunteer.

JULIE SCHULTE, Vice President, Marketing & Corporate Sales

Julie has been driving strategic marketing, communications, and corporate sustainability efforts at Vention since 2013. With more than 10 years in the medical device industry, she has served in a variety of sales and marketing roles for Greatbatch Medical, Enpath Medical, and BIOMEC Cardiovascular. Julie earned an MBA from the University of St. Thomas and a bachelor’s degree in business administration and organizational behavior from University of Minnesota-Duluth. She has volunteered with organizations including Habitat for Humanity, Boys and Girls Clubs of America, and Children’s Hospital and Clinics of Minnesota. Most recently, she served on the Board of Directors for Children’s Hospital Association in Minneapolis before moving to San Francisco.
